I made the seat 35x12 (FL12) will over lap both seats by 1 inch. Used 1x2 to stop the seat from sliding fore and aft, and two stringers. Hope it holds my weight. At 12 inches wide will store up against the center seat. Would have liked just a little wider but the seat is only 12"

Just another update on the progress of the *Mosquito* FL 14.
I have entirely coated the outside with epoxy and sanded her down.


I then started to draw out the Skeg but then decided to lay the fiberglass down first.

After my materials arrived last week I clothed her bottom in 9 oz. fiberglass and trimed it all around.



I then wetted out the bottom and left the overhang til last. I havn't got a picture of that wetted out yet, but that is where it stands.

I will next have to apply some more epoxy to her (now) not so tender bottom.

I've been spending the last few days working on my skeg. I decided to laminate the skeg to the shape of the hull. To accomplish this I simply layed down the first two layers of the lamination on a sheet of plastic layed on the hull of the boat. It works great. following find the link to see the progress. Next I will strip all the glue from the sides and scibe a line from front to back and make the cut. Then make the cut in the aft portion to follow the lines of the transom, and finally the radius cut. I'll then glass the skeg, and attach it to the bottom, make fillets, tape and finish it up. I have opted NOT to go with a marine Aluminum strip, at least for now. I think it will be OK.

Lot of work, but I'm here to build a boat and the sad thing is that the day will come when its finished. So I'm going to enjoy every bit of the work. I could have just sawed it out of a 2X4 but hey, the neighbors kid could have done that.


The city said the whole neighborhood needed sidewalks and the homeowners have to pay for it I decided as long as we had to do the sidewalks I may as well replace the old cracked driveway.


Because I'm not rich I found our dog Gretchen a boyfriend and got her knocked up. Thank you Gretchen, we love you.

The new cement looks much better than the old and like it or not we got a sidewalk. We did it ourself at quite a savings as the neighbor owns a Bobcat, and we rented a Jackhammer attachement and a dumptruck and got-r-done. We were not the very last to get-r-done... The neighbor with the Bobcat? He did his last. He got part of Gretchens dowry.

Oh yeah, by the way, Gretchen had 3 girls and 3 boys.

The boat is looking great! Looks like you are going to be able to get it done without having to use a lot of quickfair. The glass looks really nice.
