We will be installing hand rails on our Phantom 22 soon. How do you get a bend in the Stainless Steel bars like the plan pictures show?
Thanks

Figure the radious you want, Cut pieces of plywood to stack equal to the thickness of your tubing in a segmented arc(like a quarter of pie). If your jigsaw can cut slight bevel( about 12 to 22 degrees) this will be helpful to create a slight groove for the tubing to lay in. The bevel has to be opposite on both the top and bottom peices sort of like a V or U. Screw them to a work bench, screw another block a distance equal to thickness of the tubing away from one corner of the stack of pie pieces(to secure one end of the tubing while you bend the other). lay the tubing in between and gently begin to bend the tubing( you probably shouldn't try to get all the bend in one tug, and remeber the piece will spring back a little when you release pressure so test your radious with some scrap first. if you don't have room to use the long side of the tubing for leverage you can insert some rebar or smaller pipe in the short end of the tubingto extend it temporarily for added leverage but you must leave extra tubing since the tubing will not bend equaly with something inside. also if you plan to make connections with stacions using hardware rather than welds, you'll probably need to slide the hardware on before bending both ends of your tubing. Also be careful not to pick a radious to tight for your tubing since this will kinck or deform the tubing. And finaly make sure the second bend is on the same plane as the first. Or if they shouldn't be for some reason(like boat shape at the location of install, or asthetics) be sure you accurately figure it into the second bend.
I suggest getting paid to learn boatbuilding, 40hr
