first time builder buidling a gf16

Post by slammed2000 »

this is our first time buidling a boat i have built.
my best friend and i decided we would like to try it and it has been quite enjoyable. my friend comes from a long line of cabinet makers and furniture builders and my father was always quite the wood worker and his father used to be a boat builder. this has been quite a fun project even though we are not quite done yet. we should probably be complete in about a week and a half or so. we are already talking about what we want to build next and our wives have come to the agreement that my friends shop will be next then we get to build another boat. anyways i have our entire album up at photobucket. here is the link.

Thanks for the link.

I like DSCF1994

That transom looks high. I guess you are mounting the engine on a bracket?

Welcome, and thanks again for the progress pictures. :)

The transom on the GF16 is for a 20" shaft. That is what my plans showed, 522 mm high = 20.55 inches.

I think there may be some confusion on the study plans page.

Yes it does, but I have a 25" transom and 25" long shaft 25 hp. Merc. on mine. :D Another thing I learned the hard way. A short shaft Merc. is 15". A standard shaft is 20", and a long shaft is 25".
