The supplied cover does seal pretty good, but it might not last long, since it's rubber. The socket has a small hole in the back for drainage, so that will help. I think the only problem will be finding a convenient place where you won't stub your toes on it.

Mount as close to the bracket as possilble, about mid-point and leave a minimal amount of wire running from the steering head to the plug.

Richard, I have a mold that I made to make a plug in outlet that you can mount next to the trolling motor. Will take a picture this afternoon and send it to you. The female plug drilled and screwed into the face of the mount. All hook up wires are under the deck, Just plug trolling motor into the face. Nice clean finish. You have to drill hole in deck and glass this over it and then fair and paint. I used it on the black XF20. works out great and looks good.

Gk and Hunch thanks. I am going to check out Ken's deal when he gets time to send it. In the meanwhile I am going to jury rig something so I can test the trolling motor this weekend. I will probably drop the battery in the forward cooler. Ken, any word on the prop? PowerTech got the one I sent back on Friday. Just checking.

I am going to try to regain some respect from the fish this weekend. My wife says that she wants to fish on mothers day. Gotta love that.

I haven't posted on here for 2 weeks. Sticky Stuff fixed me up with a 12 pitch tripple cup prop to replace the 13 pitch that I used during the meet in CR. I am going to try it out on Monday. The engine lugged a bit with the 13 pitch prop.

The one problem I am having with the boat is that I did not allow enough drop in the angle of the gutters of the hatches that I built in the stern area . Water is draining into the bilge instead of the cockpit.

Should I plumb the gutters with drains or seal up the hatches and install Bomar units. I guess I didn't calculate the angle correctly.

This is my first build and I think it will be trouble-free except for this issue.

I would be sure both bilge pumps are (one on each side of the tunnel) working, don't worry about a few gallons of water and go fishing. My cockpit drained into the bilge and I never had any problems.

Hunch, the problem I am having is the hatches are supposed to drain into the cockpit which is self-bailing. I built a gutter around the hatches and they drained into the cockpit when I tested them on the shop floor. When I put her on the trailer the gutter floods and runs over thus leaking into the bilge. The design works fine in the water. We had a toad strangler rain the other day and I had 4 inches of water in the bilge. I had left the plugs in and did not turn the pumps on auto. The boat sits at a steep angle on the trailer so the water only stood in the last 3 feet of the boat.

I am thinking that a 7/8 inch wide gutter might be too small to install a drain in. If anyone has done this let me know. I don't mind a little water in the bilge but this is ridiculous. A last resort will be to redo the deck and install some Bomar hatches.

Forgive a dumb question, but what if you just pulled the plugs when she sits on the trailer? Or put a cover over her? If it's not a problem on the water, why do anything but prepare for rain on the trailer? After looking at your deck at CR I would hate to redo anything!
