1984 Evinrude approx. wt.?

Post by frazoo »

The title on my old Angler states that it had a 115 hp Evinrude at one time. I've been trying to find an approx. weight for that or a similar sized outboard of that time period so I will know (roughly) what I can and can't build into the transom area of the boat. I am planning on using a 250 lb. 60 hp E-tec once rebuild is complete.

thanks, frazoo

Fazoo, the 115 Evinrude/Johnson was part of a series that included everything from 88-120 HP, used by both companies. All were 4 cylinders and used identical powerheads. If you can find the weight of any of them you would have a close match to the 115. Try here, http://www.smalloutboards.com/ , they handle older engines and may be able to help you out.

You will be FAR lighter with the Etec. My 70hp 3 cyl e-rude was something on the order of 180lbs, which I replaced with a 225lb yam 4 stroke 4 cyl. Your motor should be about the weight of the 3 cyl two strokes, and the 4 bangers crept up on 300 lbs in certain circumstances.
