Fuel Filler placement
I´m planning on modifying my GV15 to include a longer casting deck and a rear deck to incorporate storage.

That also means locating the fuel tank under deck.

Where would you locate the fuel filler? I see some production boats have it in the motor well, other boats have it starboard or port. (Besides being close to the tank itself, does it matter, is there an advantage?

Also, what kind of access panels should I plan to access the tank itself for maintenance or inspection?

Thanks

PS: I read earlier threads about venting --- thanks posthumously.......

Fritz, I would locate the fuel filler on the same side as your towing vehicle is fueled on. That way you can fuel both easily if the need arises. As far as an access panel, I would make it hinged and if it is to be dry storage underneath as well, make drainage troughs(ditches) like I did on the front hinged panel on my OD16. See my web page.

Editing, here´s the deal. If you are a moderrator -- but NOT a moderator of a specific forum (this one only Jacques is listed) the software won´t let you edit.

We may need to list moderators as moderrators of all sections.

Users have no trouble editing their own posts.

Computers! I thought that this section was to discuss the new web site etc. therefore only Fritz is the moderator.
Questions about a fuel fill should be posted in the "power boat" section, not here.
Richard, you have a point, you should be able to move threads in this part too. I´ll make you moderator here too.

OK: thread moved and Richard is now moderator of the miscellaneous section.

[ This message was edited by: jacquesmm on 26-08-2002 11:41 ]

Pictures are a help, Thanks Richard. And "same side as tow vehicle" -- amazing. I bet I never would have considered that -- until I went to fill it on the opposite side.....
good suggestion.
