C17 Woody Convertible?

Post by DaveProka »

Hi everybody,

I've been playing some more with the C17 and thought this would make a pretty cool design. It's a woody like the Nina drawings Jacques has posted on the Nina plan pages. It's also convertible, you can remove the canvas enclosure.

I would replace the framing with metal support for the canvas top, but it would only be in place when the top was needed. Otherwise, it would leave the birth completely open for seating when daytime cruising in good weather. I'm playing with the same thing using the hard-top- storing the hardtop in the birth vertically to cut off the forward part of the birth and create a backrest for a sort of faux bowrider seating area. That will require some math.

Here's a more realistic example of what I'm hoping will be the final product when I'm done. Does anyone know where I got this picture? I have it on my system, and I think it came from a post here, but can't remember who posted it or why.

Yes but I got that from a canvas maker and don't know which boat that is.
Wild guess: the Downeaster designed by Ch. Wittholz.

More drawings based on the new OC17. These show a large canvas enclosure, a small canvas enclosure and center console and a small canvas enclosure over the standard two console version. I think I'm going to stick with the original plans and make the double console version with two canvas top options. I'll probably install two boxes aft of the consoles and swivel seats on the boxes and that's it.

Dave,

Nice job with the pictures. How are you producing these pics?
