Re: Serious help needed with epoxy
Thanks everyone, you've got me seriously re-thinking my methodology. Chrisobee's tips will definitely help set me straight!

I agree with the others, your batches are to big for your experience. don't mix any epoxy until you are sure everything fits where it should, & all your tape is precut. I did dry runs on my frames before applying epoxy, to make sure my plan worked until I was a bit more sure of myself. You need to have everything to hand including some glove changes, spare rollers, brushes ect, it's no good them being in the cupboard
.

Re: Serious help needed with epoxy
i agree with everyone, i currently am working on my first boat, and have yet to have a single batch of epoxy go off on me.
Just have everything laid out...cups, gloves, mixing sticks, wood.....you get the idea.
Think ahead...if you have a small glue up job left, think about where you'd put the excess. All my batches have been small batches...not preaching just throwing in my 2 cents.
Also, pay attention and mix thoroughly, i didnt on one of my batches and had to use a heat gun to get it to cure out.
Live and learn.
Happy thanksgiving to everyone!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help. After following the tips and guidelines, my most recent epoxy attempt went swimmingly. Small batches put on the boat ASAP, and then I had more that enough time!

Actually chrisobee, I've posted quite a few pictures in the gallery and I've been blogging the construction at http://sagehobbs.com. I probably need to link photos in a post for the old farts, though.chrisobee wrote:Outstanding. Great news. Harsh man... harsh. Ok... I'm one with my inner old fart. Now start a build thread and feed the old farts what they need!
