Eurolite plywood - great for small skiffs but . . .

Post by jacquesmm »

We received a phone call from somebody who tried to build the Glen-L Power Skiff with Eurolite and broke the plywood panel!
Please read the Eurolite description: it is OK for small skiffs like the FL11 or 14 but not for planing boats.
Stay with what your designer recommends. That Glen-L Power Skiff has some tight curves at the bow and is not easy to shape. And anyway, the Eurolite doesn't have the mechanical properties required for a planing hull.
We sucessfully built an FL11 with Eurolite: it looks great, is easy to carry around and the plywood did bend easily. Eurolite is ideal for such small skiffs and for canoes and kayaks. It is also appropriate for boat interiors but for the hulls of planing boats, use Meranti.

Don't disregard our 1st time experience building an FL11 with it, that one was very good.

It is a perfect plywood for small skiffs, very light but not for for planing hulls.
