Work area needed for a GF 16

Hello,

I am inching along with getting closer to purchasing the plans and beginning my build of a GF 16 later this year and it occurred to me that I should ask you guys if my work space is big enough to build comfortably or should I look at using a friends place with more room. Obviously I would prefer to have the convenience of my own garage instead of carting tools offsite.

I currently have about a 18' long X 12' wide space to build the GF 16. Is this too tight of a fit?

LOL...since I will be booting the wife's car out of the garage for the duration of the build, I figure it will give me all the momentum to follow my build time-line before momma gets unhappy

Well, comfortable may be a stretch, but it's big enough. The tight space would be less inconvenient to me than having to work off-site and not having all my tools and materials at hand.

It's definitely a plus to have your own tools at hand. With some careful planning you can make maximum use of the space available.

You'll first want to splice all your long panels, then stack them on edge along one wall. Once you start assembling you won't have room to do the splicing.

Hey Tony,

Yeah, I'm with Larry. Heck, I'd build in a 16 feet one inch space before building offsite again.

I'm just about finished with my gf and it was completely offsite (about 30 minutes away). Never again. Not to mention the mess you'll make of someone elses area, there are so many small things that can be done that only take 30 minutes or so that you really miss out on when not building onsite.

Good luck with Momma being happy with building the boat in the garage and her car outside. Guess what she will say when she gets wet from a hard rain, or lots of snow on the car. My boat will go under the deck come winter. I know who's the boss in my family.
