Questions about boat repairs with our resins and fiberglass: hull patches, transoms and stringers, foam, rot etc.

Hi Eric,
I like this rebuild. Great job on what has to be one of the coolest looking boats out there.

Took some comp time from work today and was able to finish up the KiwiGrip. We just barely had time to get it down and get the tape off, but we did it, and I am very pleased with the way it came out. Hard to get good pix in the garage. All those hours of taping the last few evenings paid off. It's finally starting to look like a boat again...

Mate, that looks fantastic. What colour is the Kiwi or did you colour it yourself ? Did you use their loopy roller ? Your texture looks nice and even.

Thanks. It's the grey kiwigrip. I used the same process that Shine used for his FS17 low sheer. Used the spreader with the smallest notch to spread it out evenly, then used the provided loopy roller.

Making some progress. Trim tabs, and jack plate installed, and got the engine hung. I've got most of the hardware mounted, but still have a few odds and ends to finish up. Almost got everything done on the console last night, but ran into a snag with the Tach. The mounting plate on the back wasn't long enough to secure the Tach. Guess I'll have to make a shim. Always something, right...

Anyway, here's shot of the console mounted with hardware installed.

Great job, I love that wheel. I was looking at the control and realized that it was backwards and was hoping that you would catch it before trying to hook up the cables. The nonskid looks awesome. 8) 8)

Good eye on the control! It would be pretty hard to operate the thumb switches with it mounted like that!
Previous builds: FL14, NC16, and others...

Current build: FL14 (+10%)

haha, good catch. That's the way it was set up when I originally got the boat. I got used to working the trim like it is, so no big deal. Was kinda wondering if it could be swapped around though.

I did try to leave enough room between the controls and the tab switch, in case I get the "right" one some day.

Im pretty sure that you already have the right control , its just turned around. It looks like it would have good clearance either way. My production boat is real trim sensitive so would be a PITA if the control was backwards but if you are comfortable with the current orientation then I would have to say that it is perfect just the way it is. 8)
