Seat Idea

Post by pmaru77 »

I have an idea on a backrest design and thought I'd pass it by to see if it's been done b4.

On a typical bench seat, you could put two steel tubes (one on each side) that could be used as rod holders and could be used to put a back rest into. These tubes would have to be mounted strongly and into the corner where the bench meets the hull. It may require to mount some hardware throught the hull and the bench. The back rest would have a rest and 2 metal rods that would slide into the other mounted tubes on either side of the bench. After being out for 4 or 5 hours, it would be nice to be able to kinda lay down or stretch out, and seems like having that back rest there and the rest of the bench to sprawl out on would work. Anyone following me?

If you had the tubes on either side of the boat then you could sprawl out and have rod facing you on other side of boat.

My buddy Raymond builds a lot of those. About 10 a week. Yeah, it's been done before.

I was under the impression that this was supposed to be a helpful site. I think you may be living up to your user name. I can only assume that this was satirical. But who knows, How about a little more info if it's for real?

Excuse me :?: You asked if it had been done before  My friend Raymond owns a business called Martin Marine Design and Fabrication, and yes, he builds about 10 sets of those a week. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
