Lug Rig on v10

Paul,
Thanks. Those numbers will help. Much more roach and scallop than I would have thought.
That sail looks good on your boat. I will probably do the same or maybe make it a standing lug where the luff goes forward of the mast and conects to the end of the yard.
thanks again
Gary

[ This message was edited by: GDBATC on 30-11-2002 22:54 ]

[ This message was edited by: GDBATC on 01-12-2002 08:17 ]

Hi Gary,

The picture on my web site doesn´t show it but I use a line to lace the luff to the mast. This keeps the sail from billowing out at the luff when I raise and lower it. There is another post somewhere with a picture of a V12 that uses a lug rig which overlaps the mast as you described.

Paul

Hey Gary,

Here´s a link to the lug rig. The boat is a Sharpi 14 and not the V12 like I thought but it still shows the rig.

http://amateurboatbuilding.com/forum/re ... R>
Paul

Hey Paul
Thats what I´m talking about. Thanks for your help. Several forms of the lug rig to choose from. Not sure which one, but one version will probably make it onto my v10. Epoxy should be here tomorrow and then I can start turning all these parts into a boat.
Gary

Lug Rig on v10

Hey Gary I´m the one who modified the SH-14 to a lug rig. I´ve been real happy with the results. I used a balanced lug and used the same mast and re-used the sprit. All I had to add was a new boom and the sail. I did move the mast back to compensate for the new CE.

Here is another shot of the sharpie

The lug rig is a little more complicated (not much) and in my opinion makes for a better sailing boat.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

loco_smitty@msn.com

Chad
