White S3 Paint

Post by kdog »

Anybody use System 3 Orcas White paint? I ordered just plain white and recieved the orcas white instead with my shipment. Is there a difference between the plain white and the orcas white? The orcas white is very bright and wondering about the glare that would be coming off of that stuff.

Orcas White is their plain white. I used Bainbridge White, it's very light, covers well, and looks rich. I tried San Juan Tan first and it looked too yellow for my taste. Then I tried Whidbey White and thought it looked a bit pink. Next was the Bainbridge White and I'm very happy with it.

I used it on my boat and it is pretty bright in the sun but sure looks good. It's not a problem with sun glasses on

Orca is what we call the "fiberglass boat white". It is very white with a tiny little touch of ivory hue. Plain white would be blueish.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll stick with the Orcas White. One more question. Is it possible to mix a custom color by myself? I was thinking of having a light blue/green, or seafoam for the hull. I would be spraying it on myself.

Yes, you can tint it yourself but it's tricky. I remember a blue GF18 . . . :)

I'm looking for an off white/ivory or something like Interlux Hatteras White from S3 (that is if my five year old paint doesn't pan out).

What would would you recomend from S3?

I used Orcas white on the GV13. It's very bright, but it's a great paint- easy to clean and tough. You can see images in the photo gallery.

In Jasons defence I liked the color of that blue, while it may have not been what he was going for it is a very pretty boat.

I like that blue too. It's Jason who hesitated about it becasue he did not get the color he wanted with his mix.
