I am a first time boat builder and am building the prameke 78. I am having a little trouble with the blueprints and was hoping someone could help me with the following issues...
1. I am having difficulty identifying where to position the frames on the side and bottom panels.
2. Is the bow frame listed in the plans the same as the mast frame. I think so, but the use seems inconsistent.
3. Does the rowing version require a skeg? If so, there does not seem to be a full size blueprint in the plans.
4. Since the bottom of the boat is two-pieces I assume I will need to stitch this together. The video tutorial had a single piece bottom. Am I correct?
Thanks! I'm very excited to take on this challenge. I can't wait to take my preschooler fishing in it.

prameke 78
Re: prameke 78
Draw the lines we show on D131/3: each point is located with a height above the baseline (lower edge of plywood sheet) and a distance to the right from the left side of the plywood sheet.anunley wrote:I am a first time boat builder and am building the prameke 78. 1. I am having difficulty identifying where to position the frames on the side and bottom panels.
For example, bottom panel, the first point is the lower tip of the panel. It is 1' 2-1/4" above the edge of the plywood and 2-1/4" to the right of the vertical edge.
Proceed with all the points, join them with lines and you will have the outline of the panel and 3 vertical lines. those are the lines for the frames.
All that is explained in detail in our basic tutorial:

It is located in the same place, yes. The shape of the top is different. You must choose which version you build, sail or rowing. The use is different, not inconsistent.
2. Is the bow frame listed in the plans the same as the mast frame. I think so, but the use seems inconsistent.
Each version uses a skeg. The dimensions for the skeg are on the plans, I see them. How to cut and attach a skeg is also shown in our tutorail.
3. Does the rowing version require a skeg? If so, there does not seem to be a full size blueprint in the plans.
The tutorial shows another boat. yes, in this case, the bottom is in two pieces and you must stitch it together and tape it with fiberglass like all other parts.
4. Since the bottom of the boat is two-pieces I assume I will need to stitch this together. The video tutorial had a single piece bottom. Am I correct?

You will see many pictures of the building of that boat.
PS: try to use the dimensions and not the patterns. Paper patterns are not accurate.
