Questions about boat repairs with our resins and fiberglass: hull patches, transoms and stringers, foam, rot etc.

Boat rewire

Post by flattitude 1976 »

Had a small issue with a float switch which burned up my bilge pumps. It only burned a couple wires in the bilge area and only the ones that went to the pumps. Anyone got a link to a proper wiring of a boat. I am going to rewire the pumps from the batteries and install new pumps.

Second question since the new float switches are horrible and die after a year does anyone have one they recommend is it really needed.

Boat is a Duracraft Draftmaster full aluminum hull with a tunnel. Trailered everywhere and not kept in water unless I am on her. It has twin 500 gph pumps for bilge and a 1000 gph pump for the livewell.

Any tips would be appreciated. I am very well versed in electrical for home but not so much in DC.

Thanks in advance
Mark.
