ARRGH! - Fixed lower unit and trim/tilt pump..but...

Post by DrBones »

I can't believe it. We fiddled for over a week and fixed the lower unit and the trim/tilt pump on my 1987 Mercury 35HP outboard! Hooray on that! :P

But when I mounted the outboard back on the stand - on which I had also the Quicksilver side mount controls mounted - upon righting the stand I broke the handle off of the side mount! @#$%@%^#$^ ARRRGHHHHH!

Stupid! Yes, I KNOW!

Question now is: where can I get a replacement handle - or controls that won't cost me my left eye? - Anyone know where you can buy parts for those? - I tried http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com - but they don't even have that listed with a price anymore. eBay has nightmarish prices for even used units - Anyone? :help:

...

Have you tried contacting www.smalloutboards.com to see if they might have some ideas? I have called the iboats folks a couple of times, and they have been very helpful. Their forums might also be of help to you, too.

I've actually found a great place for outboard engine questions: The Marine Doctor - He's replied within several hours each time! Its at:

http://www.themarinedoctor.com

He's got the part! :P
