Majek paint job

My brother bought a little majek we are going to repaint. The question I have is for the sterling top coat, do we need to take the existing paint down to the glass or sand it enough for the new paint to stick?

Not normally, but its a good idea to at least use a primer first. The primer will pay for itself in that it will take less coats of paint to get good color coverage.
