It seems absurd to me that I have not been able to work this out on my own, but I cannot seem to find a size of PVC that will fit one of the standard size marine drain plugs. In both the pipe and plugs worlds, sizes are nominal only and nothing seems to jive. What has worked for others? I need the drain to run a few feet, so metal thru-hulls are out. And if possible, I would like to use a standard plug size for when I inevitably lose mine in some remote fishing area.

Re: Drain Pipe Question
I used a piece of the gray PVC pipe and installed a brass through hull tube inside of that. I just caulked it in place with the system three caulking sold here and it worked just fine.

Re: Drain Pipe Question
Check out Wadesteps OB19 build thread , he found pipe that would fit a standard plug. I think it was a thin

Re: Drain Pipe Question
I was able to find plugs of all shapes and sizes at greatlakesskipper.com
So I guess I kind of did it backwards. I used standard PVC and was able to find a plug that fit it.

Re: Drain Pipe Question
Thanks for the input, guys. At least it looks like I'm not the only one who has run up against this. In checking out some specs, it looks like 1.25" schedule 80 PVC actually has a 1.25" I.D. Now I just need to figure out where to find some.

Re: Drain Pipe Question
If that 1" plug is like the others I have found, it is really 7/8". Too small to fit 1" schedule 40. The 1.25" plug really is 1.25", but that is actually too small to fit 1.25" schedule 40 because that pipe is not true to size. 1.25" schedule 80 IS supposedly true to size, but I have yet to track any down. A true one inch plug would be my easiest solution at this point.

Re: Drain Pipe Question
I checked out Wadestep's setup, which looks great, but something beefier than schedule 20 would allow me to sleep better at night. At this point, I'm leaning towards Fuzz's solution.
