stitching the bottom point of AR-15

Hi Jacques,

Dumb question #236

How should the bottom and chine panels come together at the bow?

I can see one the following scenario´s working

1. They overlap (not likely but I thought I would add it)
2. The chine panels extend a few inches further then the bottom panel leaving a small hole (triangle in shape and between 1 and 2 inches in length) If so, what is the best way to fill in this hole?

How should the ends be stitched?

Also, are the bottom and chine panels tacked to the frames at any point during stitching? I don´t think they would be but I wanted to make sure. I am almost to the point where I will tape the seams and flip it. I will then "true" it up before laying the filets.

Thanks,

Jay

About the bow: is that an hypothetical question or is there a gap?
In any case, all panels join at their edges, they do not overlap.
All edge lengths are always equal, we make certain that they are within 0.1%
If the ends, at the bow, do not match, it means something is wrong.

Frames: as few fasteners as possible between hull panels and frames.
If you need some, bend and adjust panels first then fasten with max. 1 or 2 screws
pre frame, only where absolutely needed.
If you use screws during the planking, that may explain the gap.
Otherwise, try to slide the panel forward, it must match within 1/4".
OK,

I stitched the front point of the chines together. There is certainly a lot of torque/tension as the chine twists to the point. When the fillet is added to it will it be able to hold it once the stitches are removed?

Also, does the end point of the bottom panel overlap (lay on top of) the chine panels or does it kind of tuck in and become overlapped on the side by the chine panels?

I might have to post a picture to show you what I am talking about. Sorry if this seems like a dumb post, it is just the first difficult situation I have run into as far as not everything fitting very easily.

Thanks,

Jay
