This is the original height of the 20" transom on the privateer. With the wood sole removed the guy put what appears to be tape on the outside skin and somehow layed in glass to build layers. The pictures should explain it all but for some reason I can't fully understand how to achieve that extra 5" solid fiberglass outside skin in the motor well.

This picture of the finished product even shows the factory "lip" across the top. Are there multiple methods to tackle what I'm attempting to achieve or is there really only one real way to do this. I want to do it the right way and not waste time or materials. I feel like I could get the transom skin built up the extra 5" by experimenting a little but it will most likely take multiple attempts to get it right with a lot of frustration along the way.

Also what is the best glass choice for building up the skin that extra 5"? I know 1708 will be used as inside layers once the sole is glued in but I feel like it's a bit heavy/thick to be used on the outside. Thanks once again for the support jacquesmm and Steven!
