C19 build.....

Post by Johnsontt »

Hey can anyone help with a question about stringers for the C19, I just started and realized the stringers are to big to be made from a single 8ft length of ply. But my plans don't have anything about building them in pieces. What am I missing?

Thanks

All our stringers are made in several pieces from 2 layers.
Look at your plans, nesting drawing. The seams between the 2 layers are offset.
Glue then 2 layers together and you have one long stringer.

I don't have a plan labeled "nesting drawing" is it missing?
The only plan I have referencing stringers is "structure- stringers & transom."
It shows the stringers as two pieces. There is a reference BL 1'-8" and BL10 which I also cannot find.
Thanks!

Ok I'm definitely missing plan D210/7 expanded panels- nesting. Is there an electronic copy I can have emailed?

Ok stringers sorted, next issue is transom angle. The instructions say there's a diagram for the transom supports on jig that give the correct angle, which I'm not seeing. I guess I can fudge it using the angle on the back of the stringers..
Can someone fill me in here please

The angle of the stringers and the side panels will define the transom angle.

Great thanks guys! I'm hoping to raise molds this week, I'm sure you'll be hearing from me. Hopefully I'll get some pics up.

Help required for mold heights! Am I to assume I can use the distance from bottom of molds to baseline in plans as my reference? Example can I pretend the top of my jig is the baseline and line up molds the specified distance from that point?

Another question guys, what hardwood is recommended for transom? Can't I use plywood and resin?

I don't know about the molds but the transom uses plywood and epoxy glue. The plans will give the thickness of the transom and what thickness to use.
