Transom & deck composite suggestions

Post by Formula Red »

Thinking about replacing transom core and deck on a small scooter boat. Any material recommendations for transom core and deck. Not totally against wood, but want to look into light weight composites.

In the online store, I noticed 2 transom cores.
1. AquaplasIII
2. Glass reinforced polyurethane foam

Anyone have experience with either?
Is the glass reinforced polyurethane coosa board?

It is very similar to Coosa, the woven/chop types are the ones with the layer of glass close to the skin of the foam, like the heavier Coosa boards.

And as far as the Aquaplas goes, it's a PVC Foam, goes together well, great screw retention, you will want to sandwich layers together if your transom is > 1/2"
