Fuel tank is going in forward of the cabin. I am not sure I have ever seen a boat with the gas tank under the cabin sole. Diesel yes but never gas.
Stop pointing out the obvious errors in my question!

There has to be a better solution than raising the deck by 3.5"

Well I am sure there is a better answer, I am just not sure what it is at this point.
It is spring time so it is time to go fishing :D I might just bag this mess until the fall. Give my pea brain some time to chew it over. I never thought I would be done before summer and I will need a winter project.

This time of the year it will be Halibut. Might try for a winter king but it is just a little early for this years kings.

On the boat building front I cut up and epoxy coated a bunch of bracing to raise the deck. Just before mixing the glue I got to looking and asked myself is this going to really be the best solution? This is what told me I need to take some time and think things over. No matter what I was never going to have it ready for this summer so it is a good time for a break.
