I wonder if a longer paddle would help in addition to the other ideas?
It would let you sit center without twisting your body each stroke?
I keep thinking of your sons grin in his canoe and hope you can figure out a good solution to enjoy it with him!

Re: HC 14 "Lost Boy" Build
Quick update...the Lost Boy was not the design we needed for the type of hunting we were gonna use it for. Nevertheless, it is getting great usage and my son gets to tell all his friends he helped build it.
Over dinner with the principal of his school, she mentioned one of the teachers had requested alternative seating for her classroom...a canoe! After some discussion we donated the canoe, which now sits in the library for all of the students to use during their reading times. A few pillows were added and now it holds 4 young readers. Not what we had planned, but it should get years of great use!

That is the best boat picture I've seen on the forum. I've built 3 boats already, and my kid still won't touch a book. Guess I'll have to keep trying. Maybe a bigger boat will inspire him.
