GF12 Transom and Clamping Board Thickness

Post by ThailandBoats »

The plan requests 12mm marine plywood for the transom and 2 clamping boards.

I am using 10mm marine plywood for my transom and clamping boards. (That's what I could find here in my town in northern Thailand. Very surprised I could get that - actually!)

Instead of my total width being 36mm (Transom 12mm + 2 clamping boards 24mm = 36mm, my transom + 2 clamping boards will be 30mm. This is a 20% variation. Will this create any issues?

I am also using 7mm plywood and could get a 3rd clamping board to make the transom a total of 37mm but that seems excessive.

First time building a boat so good feedback is helpful.
