Shoebox hatch waterproofing.

Post by fallguy1000 »

I want to build a waterproof shoebox hatch.

Is that an oxymoron?

I have a large forward locker and want to stow golf clubs in them.

The space is right at the bow.

The reason for customizing is so I can solar vent the lid and maximize the opening to within 2" of the edges of the hull.

I planned a 1.5" riser, but want it to seal well. Most of the shoebox tops I have seen only just lie on top. This would need to seal down tight and be lockable.

Any help greatly appreciated. There is no walking so no flush mount needed.

Dimensions are 20" wide with 20" length and 15" wide on the other end; trapezoid.
