Kiwi Grip Grey

Post by Larry B »

Hi guys,
I'm going to redo my pontoon boat floor. Not the wood all ready did that a few years back. I put white kiwi grip on it. Now I want to change it to grey?
I was just going to clean the white real good and put the grey over it. Do any of you see a reason why this would not work?
Also I couldn't find any pictures of boats with the grey kiwi? Looks like some have done it and said it looks good, but I can't find pictures? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Larry B

Larry, just bleach your old kiwi to prep.
Sun dry and roll on the new kiwi grip with the loopy goopy roller or a short nap hairy latex mini roller.
Give me a call if you need to, will be glad to help you 352-424-2419.

AA, that was my exact plan as thats what I use to clean it on my OD18, I just wasn't sure if that was enough, but was hoping it would be, I'd sure hate to have to sand it or scrape it :help:
I'm going to take all the furniture and hardware off so I will have a complete flat deck to work with. The white is just too bright, Too bright on my OD18 also but it's alot more work to redo that one.
Appreciate the input.

Thanks Topwater,
I think that will be perfect. Just enough to get cut down the glare of this Arizona Sun.
I'll post up some pictures when I'm doing it. (that didn't sound right  )
I'll post up some pictures while I'm redoing the deck.

I was planning white, but you guys have me thinking gray now.

Does it get too hot to walk barefoot?

fallguy, from what I have found here searching, they say it's not too hot. I'm thinking it will probably be warmer than white here in HOT AZ., but the bright glare is too much.
I'm always barefoot on my boat so we will see.
Here in AZ the white even gets hot.
I will be able to give you a good answer this July :help:

Last week on my build thread topwater advised:

"I have light gray Kiwi Grip on the sole of my boat and it will get hot with bare feet. On my next build I will use a different color or a different product" .

I suspect a shade of gray half way between Kiwi Grip's white and gray may be bare foot friendly and reduce glare.

Gray kiwigrip on my son’s GF12 we sold earlier this year.

It looks lighter than Topwater’s gray, not sure why?

If I were trying to lighten up gray kiwigrip, I would blend in white kiwigrip into a quantity of gray kiwigrip instead of tinting white to gray at a paint store.
