Grab Rails

Post by bgelber »

I've been looking for short stainless grab rails for my PH15, but the smallest I've been able to find are 12" long. These may be too long for my console...

Has anyone seen rails shorter than 12"?

Joel - Have you seen these at your vendors?

Thanks!

I can get them, 6" solid stainless grap rails. They are $45 though. Also, 5.75" transom handles for $15 (Zinc plated).

I've looked in West Marine and Boaters World, but don't see any shorter than 12".

Joel - I think that 6" will be too short - I'm hoping to find 8 or 10".

I just called Dolphin, Boats, who I bought the console from. They told me that they use 12" rails, so that's what I'll use...

Thanks!

You can buy the fittings and tubeing and make your own to any length.

Bret, I found a bunch of 8" grab rails at a medical supply outlet near me. I put them all over my boat, can't have too many places to hang on when the wind or seas kick up. Best of all they were $4.50 a piece, really heavy stainless tubing with a nice knurled finish. I love finding gold where you don't expect it.

Sticky stuff is right , you can buy tubing and fittings and make your own any leangth you wan't.

Whatever you use, always through bolt with backing plates. Ain't nothin like crackin a couple ribs on a gunnel while staring at the grab rail in your hand on the way down.   Been there

Good luck with your build!

You might try a truck stop or truck parts supplier. Most big rigs, dump trucks, etc. have several handles for cab access.
