Best method without a strongback?

Likely to start an SK14 build in the next few weeks- looking for advice... that boat is not built on a strongback and I have seen in the forums they have been built on everything from the floor, to sawhorses to a table. I will be trying to get set up in the meantime and was thinking a table About 4x12 and about three feet high. Any pros and cons of each? Is it worth me wasting time and money on a table for the build?

I built a 4x12 table for my FS13. It was too wide once I started on the inside. 2(or 3)x8 would work. I'm using saw horses now.

The SK 14 is 11.5 inches wider than the 13 according to the specs (49.5 in max beam vs. 38in). You think 3ft wise will be enough?

It should work better than a full 4'. Let's see if Dougster replies. He built the SK14.

There is a lot of good stuff in it. I bet his table is closer to 30" wide. That's just a guess from looking at the pictures in the first post of the thread.

I built the hull right side up like is described in the plans; I used the leftover pieces from a couple of the frames to act as a basket mold:

I just threw a sheet of 3/4" plywood on a couple of sawhorses and it worked great. I added some extensions to it while drawing out and cutting my panels, but took them down once the hull was stitched together. Here is a link to my build.

Yes, 'Sig got it just right: 30" wide table on castors 36" high. I already had it so used it and it sure was convenient.

BrianC that is a great idea. I took a look at Dougsters build, I’ll checkout the other one later today. I like the idea of wheels, keep the garage a little cleaner during some of the work...Thank you for the help!
