Today, lots of phone work.
I so far got a final pass of qf on one of the cockpit panel bottoms. Will sand and paint the bottom next.

Aluminum is the anode when in contact with stainless steel, and the Anode goes Away...fallguy1000 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 1:15 amStainless angle iron and stainless strapping with aluminum rivets into aluminum beam. Some galvanics might occur in the rivet or in the holes in the beam.. time will tell

Re: Woods Skoota 32DM
The ally rivets can be redone. I can even make new holes. The alternative was to build all my angles in aluminum, but the problem is this...a 4" wide by 2" high welded double angle. Attaching it to aluminum would have been a problem as the ally would bend under load. Already some concern this might.Netpackrat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 3:28 pmAluminum is the anode when in contact with stainless steel, and the Anode goes Away...fallguy1000 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 1:15 amStainless angle iron and stainless strapping with aluminum rivets into aluminum beam. The obvious alternatives are to build in composites, but this was the direction we went.

Even the rivets can be stepped up to 1/4". The biggest worry is the holes growing on the beam.
We also installed 316 rivnuts into the aluminum beam. I expect some galvanics. Perhaps the corrosion will be just a bit. Time will tell.
All aluminum was simply not strong enough.
Same story for the stainless beam strapping and stainless studs. Good news is those are galvanically isolated from the beam.

Re: Woods Skoota 32DM
Well, we have been working hard on the Skoota. I have been doing my damndest to get the cockpit panels installed. The grew a little with some fairing and painting.
I purchased a 30x40x15 tent to keep the precipiation off.
Friday I worked on the conduits to go between cabin and hulls and got them dryfit. Placed cockpit panels that are a bit big.
Yesterday we got part of the tent structure up.
