Awesome, Brayden! Love to see kids get an opportunity to do great stuff and love to see kids like you who appreciate the opportunity.
There are only two seasons in Vermont: boating season, and boat-building season.

So i am a little embarrassed to post pics of the stringers and fillet job i did. Its a LOT sloppy and does not look as good as some. Its solid as a rock though! Also i didn't realize you do not have to tape and epoxy every stringer seam but it got it anyway. Guess i will be a little heavier but super strong. Started on the cleats, I think i need more clamps.

Re: Dillpickles SK14 build.
Thats what matters
We built Landons canoe overweight and super strong as well....
You are young, and you are going to do dumb(fun) stuff, the extra strength will come in handy
(by the way, I am old and still do dumb(fun) stuff........ you just have a lot more opportunities ahead of you than I do)
Re: Dillpickles SK14 build.
Of course you need more clamps. Everybody always needs more; not possible to have too many
Looks familiar and very good to me. I just got back from a river trip with my wife on mine. Very fun little boat for sure.

Good practice for a larger boat?
You can use 2 or 3" pvc cut into small 1.5" pieces as a clamp. Not refined but effective! I'll see if I can find a picture...

So, got a few things done. Its been slow going, school, band, baseball take a bunch of my time and yards are not needing cut so my dad is helping me earn more allowance.
I was a little disappointed the two gallons of foam does not finish the job even though the BOM says its enough. I am saving to buy more so we can set the sole in place and start on the hull.

Re: Dillpickles SK14 build.
No need to be embarrassed, believe me! I'm on my second boat and had help gluing/filleting/glassing my stringers and from what I can tell, yours look better/neater! You're a good man for posting the "bad" with the good, it's how we all learn and improve, so good on ya!dillpicklepatch wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 12:06 pm So i am a little embarrassed to post pics of the stringers and fillet job i did.
