CS23 Build: Open Deck / Closed Transom

Post by rsiedl »

Hi all.

I'm just about to start my CS23 build. Have had the plans for about two weeks now and think I have a good enough understanding to make a start.

I've 3D modelled the molds and frames and everything seems to be lining up. This gives me the confidence to move on.

Next step, starting on the molds :D

I'll keep you posted....

Cheers,

Sweet! These are awesome looking boats, I can't wait to follow along. Do you have plans for the OB?

Congrats on your choice the CS23 is a great boat. I remember one builder in New England here in the States building 3 for his sports fishing business several years ago. I assume you are going to hang the motor on a platform as one of the photos in the study plans show, with the closed transom. I will keep watching through your landing the first fish. A tuna?

One last thing I would not try to build your own motor bracket. I found a couple of Australian companies for other builders down there that do build them. They are not just a square box to hang a motor off the end of the boat and must take all the torque of the motor plus the pressure of the sea states on it.

Don't worry, not planning to :)

Could you pass on the details of the companies you found? Especially anything in WA.

Ah. Not too sure just yet. Would be happy to hear anyone's experiences or recommendation.

I've got a Honda 90hp, 4 stroke on my current 17ft but it is a little slow out of the hole. Other than that, it's been quite reliable.
