15-20 feet of storm surge forecasted. Please get out
It's not worth the risk.

Hello all,

Boy what a night. The wind was fierce here but we are high and dry. No major damage. Screen doors on my shop got destroyed. Some trees down. Lots of branches all around.

We lost power about 9:30 and cranked up my two generators this morning. Storm came ashore 10 miles north of here around Fish Creek.

Major flooding in town and surge was worse than Idalia last year. My buddy who stayed here last 2 nights probably lost at least 2 of his 3 houses here.

Will post some pictures later from around our place.

Thanks for all your concern.

Regards
Tom in Steinhatchee

Glad you're safe and sounds like minor damage. Online pics and videos were scary.

Glad your safe with minor damage. Hope everyone else is also and only minor damage. Dang lady is supposed to stall out over TN/KY and provide rain over the next few days with light rain and winds, until Wed. at least. Millions without power up here between NC and northern SC. One river to crest over 10' above its previous high crest others cresting above previous records also. Mandatory evacuations going on. Interstates are closed due to flooding and mudslides. Damns over topping, may fail. It is bad up here. I am fine up here on my mountain; remains of eye went east of me got about 8" of rain and max winds of 40 gusting to 60mph. Nothing the house or big trees can't take here. Twenty inches of rain and wind to 70mph east of me towards Asheville and east.

Good to hear everyone,s ok so far , they called the track close to money on this one . I sit around most of the early morning yesterday waiting for it to start moving east , thought i might have to go move my RV off the beach . Not that I don't trust the National Weather Service Hurricane tracking ability , I went to sleep one night with one down graded and moving east as a tropical storm , woke up the next morning with waves lapping just under my back tires , learned my lesson . One of my brothers learned his riding out Sally a couple of years back , wont do it again , too easy to get 10 miles off a beach in a safer area these days . Everyone stay safe

Hello All,

I took a drive around town this afternoon and the damage is just horrible. Storm surge took my friend's 3 houses. One concrete block house leveled.

across the street from the block house

His second house around the corner just had the concrete pillars left.

His third house on the Jena side went for 1/4 mile trip upriver and is sitting in the marsh.

This is my place and some of the trees which I have to clean up.

We did not take any pictures as we drove around town but this is the worst I have ever seen and the storm surge sure did a number. om amyone within 1/2 mile of the river or gulf. Cat 4 winds of 140 mph did a number on buildings and trees. Another friends place got flooded and it had never seen water before. Trucks, Tractors, generators, everything. I helped him get one of his generators going this afternoon.

It was really bad folks. I think we will be without power for a week based on how many power lines I saw with trees over them. Thanks God I have two working generators.

Hello again.

I had to clear about 4 or 5 trees on my 3/4 mile road out to highway 51. Lots to do just to be able to leave. Some of the trees were large so lot of chain saw work to take them down to size where I could move them with my backhoe.

Maybe I can spend some time on the boat tomorrow.

Hi guys, finally got phone and internet back tonight about 9:30. Damage was extensive up here with extensive flooding and high winds. Winds were steady in the 60mph range with gusts to slightly over 100 in the high mountains. The rivers all set record highs levels. There is massive damage to roads and Interstates. Here is a little write up on the disaster up here. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/pictu ... 6d9e&ei=52

Hello all,

Got all the big wigs coming to Steinhatchee and Keaton beach this past week. I finally got power back yesterday after 8 days. So nice to have A/C again and not have the noise of the gen set.

Still working like a dog fixing chainsaws and weedeaters as many were flooded and clean up crews are needing stuff fixed too.

Back to work on the boat in another week or so as I still have down trees in my yard to clean up.
