Good hear from your Michael! :D
I was going to ring you when we were on the Sunny Coast for Xmas with the "Golden Grandchild" - but didn't like to pry.
I too would like more news on Skinnydip.
Regards
Lee

Thanks Fuzz, cape man, Jaysen, OlivierP and Lee for your replies, and your interest in Skinnydip and/or Great Sandy.

I’m hoping some background information will help explain why I’ll be posting little in Skinnydip until later this year.

The child bride and I have reluctantly come to the realisation that it’s time to call time on cruising Great Sandy, and to find the right new owner for her.
So, the longish list of work I’ve got in front of me is for more than annual maintenance, it’s for preparing her to sale.

Then we want to muck around in Skinnydip within the Noosa River and Lake system to see if she’s the right boat for us as we head towards our eighties, or if we should find a new owner for her and purchase an over-night sedan motor cruiser.

Time will tell.
Currently building Jacques Mertens ST21 "Skinnydip". Boating adventures: Splash testing and using 'Skinnydip, as a basis of further building refinement; Adams 44’ sailing sloop "Great Sandy" (cruising and maintaining); Iain Oughtred Feather Pram "Mini Dip" (building); Jacques Mertens R13 "Wood Duck" (built and due for maintenance).

Most people age out of sailing long before you guys. You should be proud you have been able to sail for as long as you have. And at some point a large boat is just more work than it is fun.

Thanks Fuzz.

Ourselves alone, the child bride and I have been privileged to sail offshore for as long as we have. Now our bodies are telling us it’s time to dock. So be it.

Wonderful times,wonderful memories.

Skinnydip adventures in the Noosa River and Lakes system await. :D

Tropical Cyclone Alfred is bearing down on Great Sandy's anchorage in the Noosa River, ETA arrival in around 24 hours time. I hired a diver to replace the mooring tackle just in case - new swivels, shackles and chain. Now for the wait.

Hoping you ride this one out without damage. Am I right that the center is predicted to come ashore between you and Brisbane? Slow moving rain maker!!

Stay safe Michael! :D
Having been through more cyclones (hurricanes) than I have fingers and toes, I think you should be OK.
100 km (60 miles) north of the crossing point of a Cat 2 should be out of any real danger zone.
Preparation is the key - and you seem to have that covered.

PS: Am I glad that I don't own a $2M house on the foreshore of the Sunshine or Gold Coasts - you betch'ya!
