As a newcomer to boatbuilding, the FL14 was intended to be my practice for the DE23, but now I've had second thoughts.
I simply do not have enough space to build the DE23 (or DE25) here in Canberra and I have regretfully decided that such a project will have to wait until I retire to Queensland in about eighteen months time. (I may even stay in Canberra for another two or three years yet). I am also very impressed with the TW28 and that may in fact be a better choice for me to build in my retirement. I will finish the DE23 model, though, just to see what she looks like with my cabin modifications.
Meanwhile, my FL14 is almost finished and will be launched soon, but I'm having building withdrawal pains already! I don't want to wait around for another couple of years before building my next boat and, after a lot of thought, I've decided that my next build will be the LB22 Nina. Her length, beam and height will fit in the space I have available to build and I really like the look of this boat, especially the cuddy cabin version. Anyway, I've taken the plunge and have ordered the plans from Bateau today.
However, searching through all the posts I can find on the LB22, I can't find any reference to an LB22 being completed. I've also searched the picture galleries but can't find any photos of a Nina build in progress.
Has anyone launched yet, or if not, does anyone have pics of where they are up to in the building stage that they can post to the forum?

FL14 "Lake Dreamer" built.
There has been a lot of talk about the Nina, but if anyone has actually put epoxy to plywood, they are being very quiet about it.
I too have space issues for my next boat project. My proposed Nina build stalled after getting the plans and trying to work out room for a construction site. Back to square one.

You're right, Jerry - I've noted 135 views of this thread so far but yours is the first response!JerryF wrote:There has been a lot of talk about the Nina, but if anyone has actually put epoxy to plywood, they are being very quiet about it.

Are there any LB22 builders out there?

No response, so I guess not.Has anyone launched yet, or if not, does anyone have pics of where they are up to in the building stage that they can post to the forum?
Jacques,
I received the plans today and am eager to start. I will have to wait a few months, but I'm already thinking modifications! (Sorry!). I want to build the cabin version, but I prefer the look of the windscreen version. I've been wondering if I could combine the two into something like this -

Do you see any problems with this idea?
Also, can you tell me if the portside console is structural or can I cut it down a bit?
Thanks.
Mike

You can change the cabin style, no problem but keep it light.
You can also lower the console but think of the ergonomics, you will not be able to steer standing anymore.

The part under the gunwale is structural, it is a frame but everything else can be cut down for a clear cockpit.

Dories don't sail well but the concept of a very simple, large open sailboat is worth considering.
