My GV11 Floor Solution

After thinking through the possibilities in adding a floor to the GV11, I came up with the solution of adding 2 floors--one port and one starboard, between the mid and aft seats. The keel area remains as is. This configuration should provide several benefits: 1. Since my feet will be on the bottom of the boat, between the floors, my knees will remain bent at a comfortable 90 degrees when sitting on the aft seat. 2. The keel area and drain holes will remain exposed in case I need access. 3. The floors should further stiffen the hull. 4. And the most practical advantage--I will have flat spaces where I can lash items such as coolers, tackle box, milk crate, etc. A possible disadvantage that crossed my mind, was that it could be a tripping hazard, but I really don´t feel that will be a problem. I´ve attached a few pictures...they still need to be glassed in. After that, fair and paint the interior, install the inner rails and she´s just about done!! Doug

Looks good, Doug. What thickness plywood did you use on the floor and how is it attached? <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_biggrin.gif">

Richard, It´s 3/8 meranti, backed up with cleats on the mid and aft seats and a cleat on the inside corner, with an additional support down the center. The vertical legs are attached to the hull stiffeners. The top side will be filletted and glassed. Doug
