Thanks for the quick response guys.

The day I launched the boat it weighed 1,325 lbs. (took it to the town dump and put on there scale.) fully rigged with 10 gallons of gas and no passengers (the engine weighs 305 lbs). Thats a bit more weight than Jacques prototype. Mabe that has something to do with its slow planing problem.

The planing surface of that boat is huge, it should have no problem getting on plane even if its a little heavier than spec. My boat is around 1000 pounds with the motor, 40 hp, 17 pitch prop, and she "jumps" up on plane. I have had 4 adults on board and the 40 hp still gets up on plane with no problem.

Your boat weighs 300 pounds more and has more than double the hp, so I think it must be a prop issue or something with the engine.

When I said 42 it was with an aluminum prop. I now run a stainless and it is closer to 50. I need to have the prop cupped some more for less slipage. Also will check speed with my GPS.

A little saw dust, a little glue, and a lot of love, and she will float.

Which slow planing problem? I didn't read anything about that but would like to know.
The 1st PH16 prototype was around 750 lbs before rigging, probably 1,000 + with engine and gear. Your weight looks normal.
I was going close to 50 mph with a 70.

I've got a 90 etec on the back of my ph16. running a 16p aluminum prop for now. about 46mph and gets to plane in a sec. runs like a cadilac. she just doesn't like to turn, rather she slides. so i got to slow down before making any precise turns.

I've just added 12" trim tabs and will be putting on a stailess 3 blade 17p prop. and a 5 1/2" jackplate, hydraulic. boat should be optimized after that.
