I am looking at the 60 hp Yamaha Jet. It produces 40 hp in a jet configuration.
Planning on a sole, casting decks and walkaround gunnels like Hunch's boat.
What do you guys have on yours for power and what do you think of using the 60 hp Yamaha jet. Don't want any more weight than I have to, keep as shallow a draft as possible, but I would like to see 30 to 35 mph.

Hi Redfish,
I also looked at an outboard jet. It was the precursor to eventually installing the hamilton jet in my xf20.
In case you're not aware, and have an existing outboard, the manufacturer of the outboard jet lower units has an extensive range that will suit most standard outboards.
All outboard jet units come from the one supplier over there in the USA. The manufacturers source from them and fit to their power heads. Check out their website as you may be able to adapt a second hand motor cheaper than buying a new one.
Also, keep in mind the water flow to the intake. That is probably the most crucial thing about jets.
Good luck, and post some pics if you have them...
Warren.
