Can someone please help me come up with a rub rail for my cs25? I`m trying to get 40+ year dried 3/4x1 1/2 clear cypress strips to make the bend and have broken two already, one plain and one scarfed. I think it`s just too dry to make the compound bend. Any other ideas? Mike

Try taking a 3" piece of PVC Pipe and fill with water. Cap one end off and stick the cypress in the tube,Pour a bottle of amonia in and fill the rest with water. Let it soak for 24 hours. This should soften it up and allow it to bend easier. I have done this with clear fir. may work on cypress. It dries out in a day or so.

A little saw dust, a little glue, and a lot of love, and she will float.

Just rip the pieces you have into 1/4" thickness and do it in layers..easy to bend... and rigid after you epoxy each layer.
Good Luck

Thanks for the tips guys. Been away from the boat for a bit for my sons wedding. Time to get back in "THE ZONE". Mike
