flat skiff 14 cabin?

Post by esox »

At the moment I am building a flat skiff 14.
I was fishing in my first boat a V10 in the rain and wondered if it was possible to put a small shelter / cabin on the flat skiff that perhaps covers the bow and front seat. Has anybody tried this or would it upset the balance of the boat. I am going to power the boat with an outboard steering from the stern seat. If I put a window in the front would I have good visibility. Any help much appreciated.

Have you considered canvas?

I'm looking at the same issue on my GF14, not for rain but for sun. My Irish ancestry doesn't do well in the desert lakes. I know you can get canvas covers, plastic windows, and frames that simply fold neatly away when not in use which is the solution I'm looking at.

They even have an icon showing me getting sun burned...

How about a bimini top or some other canvas shelter?
