d12

Post by John_I »

I am jsut starting to assemble the panels for the D12. I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but I need validation. The large mold is temporary, right? When do I remove it from the hull? After I stitch on the bottom?

Yes, it's temporary. Leave it in as long as you can, like until some of teh taping is done.

Do you think it would be a good idea to cut notches in the lower corners to make it easier to fillet and tape the bottom?

That is really a matter of personal preference. I don't do it anymore but years I liked the notches.

I wound up cutting around 5 inches off the bottom. This gave me access to the joint for the full length of the aft section, and once I got the rubrails, thwart, and mast partner installed, I removed the mold.
