Today I spent 3 hours transferring only the sides of the hull onto a sheet of plywood. This procedure is only supposed to take 1 hour for all of the plans. Where I ran into trouble is the line in section 4 of the plans. The line says "edge of plywood" or something to that effect. However, when the plans are drawn onto the wood, the "edge of plywood" line is about 4-5 inches past the edge of my 8 foot plywood. I spent way too much time measuring. adding and subtracting.
I have come to the conclusion that the line is in the wrong place on the plans - which are confusing anyway (try distinguishing section 2 from 3 on the hull-side plans for the d12).
Has anyone else run into these problems? Are the plans wrong?

We checked and the plans are correct.
I think that I understand the confusion: the dimensions relate to the edge of the plywood but the line around the full size pattern is just a line for alignement, not the edge of the plywood.
After 10 years and many D12, you may be the first one that uses the patterns for the side panels. They are much easier to draw from the dimensions and that is probably what all other builders do. Or then they lined up the patterns another way.
Personally, I hate those patterns but builders ask for them . . .
BTW, we changed the layout of the plans and removed all the lines showing the locations of the frames. We give too much information and sometimes it creates confusion.

It seems that I did not make my confusion as clear as possible. In frame 4 of the d12 dory plans for the side panels, there is a verticle (dotted i believe) line that says "edge of plywood." It is supposed to represent the edge of the first sheet of plywood - or the 8 foot mark. This is the line that I believe is incorrect.
jacquesmm- just as your suggestion indicated, my initial thought was to use the dimensions from the expanded drawing for the side panels. I decided to use the pattern because there is no dimension for the height of the side panels at the 8 foot (lenght) mark on the expanded drawings. Without this dimension, it would be hard to get the acurate angle of the bottom of the panel unless drawing on a 12-1/2 foot piece of plywood. Does the aft end start to 'angle down' (the 1-1/4) from the 8' mark?
Perhaps you can shed some light on this issue for me. I dont understand why I am having so much trouble.

Yesterday, we updated the full size patterns too and removed all the frames and plywood location lines . . .
I will check my back ups to see what that line was but I remember that all those lines were confusing and that is why we removed them.
