It may not be very clear on the drawing but there is supposed to be cleats at the top of the daggerboard, like a 1x1 on each side of the top. I only show a line there but do not comment about it. Those cleats area good handle and keep the daggerboard to got too far.
They match the cleats of the upper edge of the daggerboard trunk.
Maybe you don't have those cleats?
If you do have the cleats, sprays should only come out of the trunk at high speed.
If you have the cleats and sprays, glue some neoprene strips along those cleats.
Note that notch in the top of the daggerboard. Use a shock cord that goes through the notch and around the forward part of the trunk cover. That is why I designed the notch.
Let me know how all that works.

Jaysen, post a pic of the top of the dagger board and notch, before and after you fix it per Jacques suggestion.

AH HA!!! That's the problem!
So I need to add the cleats and the strap down. I have two pegs to prevent fall through now and use the anchor bucket handle to keep it down. Those cleats will stop my problem. I may add the gasket just to kill it all in one shot.
Thanks JM. I knew there was some solution that I wasn't seeing.

EMC, while great stuff, may be overkill for interior paint.

Re: Daggerboard fountain when sailing in the ocean
I'm the "overkill is best" when it comes to high quality paint. And my ability to damage paint says i want something easy to repair. I'm open to suggestions though. EMC requires wheel barrows full of money. Anything that folks suggest goes on as easy and lasts as long... I'm all ears.

Maybe she was saying it this way: "
And she was still in shock so she kept saying it!I feel so safe... and it is just a little boat! And you built it!

Well... she doesn’t enjoy fishing much. But she will enjoy my ranting about how the stupid fish know which hooks are mine and will avoid them...
