I think they have to be glued in. Glass tape is an option that you may consider. I did it on my OD18 after disussing with other builders. Added time and materials, but as I pound through chop like today I know it's there. Per the plans on mine it only called for glue. I assume the XF20 is the same.I have a question about doing the stringers/frames......is it best to glue the stringers & frames in (using EZ Filet) and then glass in with 6" tape, or, is gluing in not needed?

I would think the same, glue, filet and tape. Hopefully Richard will see this and set us straight.

Tab your stringers in place, then fillet them with epoxy and wood flour. More strength with the wood flour mix than the easy fair. Next glass in the stringers with the 6 " cloth. If I remember right two layers of cloth on the stringers.

Mando, I was wondering the other day how your boat was coming along. Nice to hear you are at it again.
Hopefully Richard will see this and set us straight

No other way to do it. Once I flipped and and leveled my boat I clamped some 2x4s across the hull and used some scrap pieces of lumber to wedge between the clamped boards and the stringers to hold them in place while the glue was drying. Not tight but just enough to keep everything straight.I made my fillets and taped at the same time that I glued down the stringers. That was about the time that I figured out the wet on wet concept. Mando are you going to be installing two or four stringers?Glue, filet and tape

Finished the build this fall. Took the boat to Tampa (from Houston) to have a professional finish it. He sprayed 2 part epoxy, something that I could not do.
Built the sole out of Nidacore so used 4 stringers instead of 2.
Put the boat in the water for the first time a few days ago. Lived up to the advertising, drafted 2 1/2 to 3 inches with 2 us on in it and a 30 hp Tohatsu motor.
Here are some pics. My brother in law's wife (ie, my sister) picked the colors....not my favorites ! Now I am on to building a Texas Sled for me to use in Galveston Bay.
Thanks for all the help and support during the build!

Nice looking job, Mando. Next time I'm down there I'd love to see it in action, it should be the bomb on Cedar Lakes.
My Mother In Law picked the color on my boat, I know all about how that works.

Glad to hear you finished your boat, Mando. I lived in Kingwood 10 years ago. I still have friends who live in forest cove. I would love to come see the texas sled while it's being built. The XF looks sweet!!!
