The last couple of years, we have spent a week in that area (in January) camping and fishing, beautiful place :) You might want to start a blood drive though if you want to try it during the Summer

Edit...I see the vote is 6-6  Since I am from a "swing state", I will hold out until the polls are about to close :P

You got that right :help: Dori and I pulled into Everglades City once in a 40' sailboat. Needed dry land, good food and diesel fuel. I'm almost certain it was June. Tied up at The Everglades Rod and Gun Club and the old fellow at the dock told us that we wouldn't live through the night if we stayed on that boat. He was right, the bugs were as bad as I've ever seen them, and we got some bugs here too :!: We had to get a room. Dangitman :!:

That's the only time I've been there, but it looked like a very neat place. Old Florida for sure. Probably best enjoyed in the winter, or at least in the daylight

I know all about the bugs! But i also know about the awesome fishing there in the summer months! From snook to permit to monster jewfish amd tarpon! It has something for everyone and you can do it all in a couple days!

Just throwing it out there. It is your meet.

No it's not, it's all of ours meet 8) Just like this is our country  All votes are equal. Opinions are welcome. That was a very nice place and I'd really like to go back, just not in the summer :D It's too far inland to catch a breeze in the summer, and the bugs would be terrible. Some of us are used to bugs, but there ain't many of us used to bugs of that quality 8O

Sometimes those skeeters are mistaken for turkeys...

But really, it aint that bad. I have been there about a dozen times in the summer and it is no worse than south mississippi...

Exactly :) I thought that was the purpose of the thread? Anyway, since it RARELY freezes in that corner of my home state, we grow skeeters down there the size of small birds

I had 2 of them pick me up by each shoulder. One said to the other, "Where are we going?" The other one answered " doesn't matter, let's just get him out of here before our parents come and take him away from us."

Sometimes reality has to check in. Their are a lot of us builders who have shampagne taste but have beer pocket books. Its all well and good to be able to go to all these neat places but a lot of us just can't afford it. even jacques mentioned it to me. I love to be able to go to the Keys, Everglades , and a lot of other places. I can't afford it and I am sure others are in the same boat as I. Got to get real sometimes. This is not just a rich mans group. Got to let the little men be able to enjoy it also. Just my .02. :(

I understand but on the other hand don't understand, it doesn't matter were the meet take's place you have to pay for a sleeping place and you have to pay for food unless the meet is at home. so is it really those extra tanks of gas that is holding some people back in case it's a little further as around their corner??
