Mako 258 converstion to center console

Questions about boat repairs with our resins and fiberglass: hull patches, transoms and stringers, foam, rot etc.

I vote #1 with the bracket.

The engines are 30" shafts. The hull is currently the flybridge cruiser. I don't want the bridge in order to make it easier to trailer and get in tight places. Plus I want to make it lighter.

You like the open fish?

nice

So starting from what you have now, its going to be a lot of work to make either the express or a CC .
make it easier to trailer and get in tight places.
Its going to be a pain to tow because of the beam. Isn't it going to live at a dock?
Plus I want to make it lighter.
That should not be difficult  I would guess you could take a couple thousand pound out without much effort

Mmmmhmmm...saw the Seacraft on craigslist.... 8)
Seacraft is at a point where it can still fetch what i have in it, so that's the reason for listing.

Joel,

Here is a 26, same designer as 28, converted to open fish. They did a nice job on this one. First pic is running 50mph according to poster.

i like it. What size motors?

There is similar bertram 25 here in Vero, converted to CC, it has a 300 hpdi on a bracket, looks really nice. I think your 28 is a foot wider.

One thing that interests me is that its able to can carry a lot of weight if you want. A second set of props and you can load it way down for island trips

That's a great hull to start with. Always been one of my favorite boats. There is a guy in Vero who made a mold with an attached bracket. He has built one express from it. I'm looking for his web site. Depending on how you want to use it the fish around is sweet, like Joel said there is plenty of beam. Defently a bracket.

It would probably be the ticket. The 26 above has a pair of 200s on it.

I have seen that boat out at the boat buoy and also at the local boat show, its beautiful ! Unfortunately he was the victim of the same ring of motor thieves as was I. They stole the boat out of his shop and later is was recovered, stripped :x

It was for sale on CL a couple months ago. I think the business was called treasure coast boat works, in Sebastian

with a second look, I can see the hull is not 100% the same above the chine. The might have started with a 28 bertram to make the plug, but the tumble home and bow are new.

either way, the layout and style is perfect and the bert 28 has the same beam so you could fit that wide console
