You might want to wet out the part before you slide the sleeve on and then wet out as you did. It will at least get some epoxy on the inside of the sleeve. Thanks Tom. It is an extreme pain in the ass just to get a carbon fiber sleeve to conform to the shape I'm working with.
I'll try laminating wet on wet next next time, I'l post a report.

Super cool, Richard. I hope that shrink wrap peels off the cured epoxy easily. I'm curious about the texture of the shrink wrap before you heat it. Is it tough, delicate, crinkly? And what's it like after you shrink it?

So is the shrink wrap a flat piece or a tube? Looks like a flat sheet but for some reason I thought it was a tube Either way this is great to watch.

This batch of clear shrink tubing is very thin, crinkly and delicate. As I hit it with the heat gun, it slicked off, got smooth and squeezed down onto the CF. I also have some black heat shrink tubing. It's much thicker. Both are pre-treated so as to not stick to epoxy.

The heat shrink is packed flat like a roll of electrical tape but it's actually cylindrical tubing.

Like vacuum bagging without the vacuum. Very cool! Or hot in this case.

Looking good. I used zip ties to cinch down the ends and hold them tight.
I don't see how you could slide the sock over a wet part and not have it stick and deform the cf. I did two layers at a time as well. I'm anxious to see how it comes out with the heat shrink.

Gary, I didn't get a chance to cut off the heat shrink this afternoon. I will do that before Monday and post photos.

I always heard it is better to under promise and over deliver. Nothing wrong with a little bling on Bare Bones.
