Re: Project TW28
Is everybody who is building a TW28 working flat out and not posting progress? I know I am sick of sanding although I bought a long bed air sander which is great for fairing loge flat areas and taking out any bumps. Best of luck guys

Rick I hope you are feeling ok now. I am just fairing the tapes before I epoxy and lay down the mat I hope its not too bad when I do the final fair. The idea is to make it as perfect as possible and with care when matting to have a minimum of work top do mat the end. Just bought a hundred metres of very fine matt to finish to reduce the amount of print through as I want to paint thr hull a dark green. I cant wait to turn it over and start some real carpentry

I think all the torment we go through (or are going to go through) with fairing is "paying our dues" before we get to the good stuff Colin.colinhart wrote:Rick I hope you are feeling ok now. I'm feeling a bit better, got problems with ear infections, blew out both drums in a diving accident years ago. Today I'm just trying to keep my shed attached to the ground. It was blowing 60 kts here today. Still in the mid 30's. I've tied the shed to my boat and my garden shed. If it takes flight now I'll have to go to Oz to get my lawnmower from the shed!

Carry on and post some pics when you can.
Yours Aye! Rick

I am glad your sheds okay Rick that must one strong structure. I had a good clear up today and collected in the workshop vacuum about half a bucker of sanded off fairing which is a mixture of west system 410 filler and epoxy. It very clean is there any reason I cannot re-use it in another fairing session. maybe inside where it is in a less extreme environment.

I don't know Colin. Maybe Joel or Jacques would know. I'd mix some up with some epoxy and see how it reacts.colinhart wrote:I am glad your sheds okay Rick that must one strong structure. I don't know if this is a good idea for fairing, sand from the sandingpaper, other small particles. For fairing ...colinhart wrote: I had a good clear up today and collected in the workshop vacuum about half a bucker of sanded off fairing which is a mixture of west system 410 filler and epoxy. But for a putty it could work it is a kind of filler. Another argument not to use it is the amine blush you might have sanded away and is now in the dust.
But it is at least an evironmental friendly way to get rid of the glass particles
