Hey Guys -
Looks like the weather will be perfect - some fishing offshore - some (me) fishing inshore or just enjoying the park.
Plan for Lunch when?
Menu - I'm good for potato salad and paper plates.

I would like to know what to bring. Are there barbecue spots available there? If yes, I can bring charcoal, chicken, spices, beer.

I am sorry to ask this but I have skimmed the threads (I have not read them in detail). Where is the event taking place (to reasonable precision - I don't need exact lat/lon for those of you with GPS

). We are thinking about making a day trip from Hotlanta to see everyones boats and actually put some faces with boats ...... Anyone in Atlanta wants to go - let me know - we have a 7 seat minivan with 4 seats occupied (2 by kids - 4.5years and 2.5 years so be forewarned).

Maybe I should be the "beer cart" Jacques. The park does not allow alcohol. If I am beached and launched from somewhere else I am legal to have a cooler full I believe. I'd say cans and can coolers are in order for the day. I will bring a couple cases if you want me to, what's your favorite brand in a can? You guys bring your own foam can coolers. OK?
Whatever I end up doing about fishing I'll be back to the park around noon or so. Drinking before that is pretty hard core so that should be soon enough for the beer cart to arrive. New designator BC-19, beer cart 19.
I would bet there are grills there, but can not swear to it. Todd Fishguru, are you there? Mac 5eo, did they say grills in the campground?
Larry, Hugeonote Park, A1A just north of the mouth of the St. Johns River. Right across the river from the air craft carrier!

I'll be new to this get together, but I'm more than willing to contribute to the eats. Here in South Carolina, shrimp are the order of the day. Be more than glad to provde a few pounds of cold "peel and eat" shrimp complete with sauce. Any objections???
I'll also be bringing my mostly completed V10.
Looking forward to meeting one and all!!

The rangette said there are picnic tables and grills at the campsites. All three of the pavillions have already been reserved. I have site # 63 on the river reserved for Thursday and Friday, but someone else has it reserved after noon on Saturday. Huguenot Park number is 904-251-3335, (courtesy of JohnA).
BTW, I recall Jacques' chicken from last year, and it would be WELL WORTH getting the man a place to cook!
All the directions I've seen suggest the Hecksher Drive exit from I-95, heading east to the park.
Oh, and I'll bring some soft drinks and some French bread.

I'll bring deviled eggs and the xf20 as Bill the Cat suggested.
I plan to launch at Alimacani Ramp( I think less ramp traffic) around 9:30 AM on Sat.Fish around the creeks etc. and idle over to the park around 1PM (high tide)
I say plan because my new 25HP Johnson has yet to arrive(ordered on April
The dealer said he would loan me a 25HP 4stroke if needed.
I'll be there but I really don't want to mount the jackplate until I have my motor.(quoted motor shaft lengths are a mystery)
Watch the motor come on Fri.afternoon ........Jim

OK, .... Is anyone camping there Saturday night that we can set up near to grill chicken? We could use Mac5eo's and beg forgiveness for using their grill a little past noon checkout time. The only portable grill I have is tiny. Good for maybe eight pieces of chicken at a time. I will bring it in case it is our only alternative. JUST SAY YES TO peel and eat SHRIMP! Jacques may want to "chicken out" and bring chicken salad????? But there is plenty of space on the BC-19 for the lil' grill so I'll bring it.
Ernie Johns came by Monday evening and picked up my dolly for his C21. He's close to rolling it over now. My garage is almost navigable again.

Thanks again for the dolly. You and your C19 have been an inspiration to me in building the C21, and being able to see your boat up close was great. Pictures do not do these boats justice. it is very difficult to get a perspective on the size of the boat from photos, I relly appreciate all the information you have provided.
I also wanted to tell you my wife was impressed by your boat. She also paid it the ultimate compliment for her. When asked what she thought of your boat, her reply was "It's a boat". Believe me that is a huge compliment coming from her and a lot different from the comments I get on my boat.
She is beginning to come around though. For months she would comment that I never did anything but work on my boat. A few nights ago I had brought some work home and as I was working she came by and asked "aren't you going to work on OUR boat tonight.
Thanks again
Ernie

OK I have another larger grill to bring, kind of a portable table top weber. So we should be ok for cooking. Jacques will you have charcoal, lighter fluid and matches? If not, I'll bring some.
Ernie, thanks and it is my pleasure to encourage folks to have the same fun and joy I had building "the boat". When you're finished your wife will be embarassing you constantly bragging about "our boat". It is a pretty common theme I think. Skepticism, fear, turns to optimism and excitement as you launch her, .... the boat not your wife?

This is probably a good idea. If there's enough, we might even offer our new hosts a bite or two, plus a gander at some really neat boats.
I'm not sure where it is, but I am at site 63, on the river.
Bought a little tent last night (the old one was showing it's 20+ years), some bug repellant wipes and some apples--I'm just about ready

I'll bring some blue crabs (cooked and cleaned into "clusters") and cocktail sauce, if no one's pulled my traps this week

. They can be eaten cold, so even if we have problems with grilling we can still have some meat. I'm going tomorrow, so I'll post back if I'm going to have to bring something else.
Unless a garage full of elves flip over the OB-19 and finish the inside (and donate a motor and trailer), I'll be bringing my GF-12.

OK then, I'll marinate some chicken and will bring that.
Where exactly do we meet? Last year we were all driving around for a while before settling on a free chalet.

#63 Ron's
Here's a area map with a spot for Ron to try. Do not share with the world Ron. This slide in my gallery has more details in the notes.

Thanks, Jim. I'll see what we can do with it. I'm supposed to meet JohnA Friday morning to do a little fishing, and we may try your spots.
I will probably have to be packed up by noon on Saturday, but I will at least hang around #63, and leave some sort of sign with directions at the #63 site if we decide to move somewhere in particular. I don't plan to head back until 5 or so, but need to yield the site to the next camper.
It would probably be worthwhile to secure a pavillion for these things and share the costs with the participants. I hear that Huguenot Park is a very popular place on weekends, and the weather should be great this weekend, assuring a good crop of campers and other recreationalists.
I won't get away from Orlando until 4 pm or so on Thursday, because of an obligation that cropped up. My T-Mobile # is 407-617-9957, a freebie for you T-Mobilers, and free for mee after 9 on Friday evening.

JimW,
For those of us with a choice, which ramp would you recommend? Is Sister's Creek a nightmare on weekends? Is the Hugeonote ramp on the St John's side or Ft. George Inlet side?

Hugenot ramp is small and unimproved. It is on the ft. George side. Sisters creek can be crowded but not too bad until after memorial day when the skiers and tubers start their stuff.

Jim Wright, Beer and plastic cups, C-19, On the river side near #63 or in a clear spot on the beach. Look for a green and white C19 and a green 10X10 quik shelter. I will bring a grill. I'll have a raised white outrigger with some kind of wind sock or flag flying.

GF-12 (may or may not launch, I've got a kid just getting over the flu and it depends on how he's feeling)
Blue Crabs and Cocktail Sauce - The person who molested my traps this week was kind enough to reclose a couple of them (trap robbers on the east coast of Florida don't have to worry about buckshot, so there tends to be more of them

), so I still got 2 dozen. Jacques, if I can get a discount on the next set of plans, I'll set aside all the whales for you

Matt, Those were your traps? Oh sorry!
Just kidding, I wouldn't know how to open a trap up to raid it. My daddy taught me never to mess with a fisherman's stuff.

I'll do anything for nice blue crabs, especially the ones baked in garlic. The St John's River is a great place for crabs and I am already planing my itinerary strategy to reach crabs restauranst or shacks ar lunch and dinner time. I'll have my cooler ready!

Smilinmatt:
Must be more folks in Florida, cause just to the north its well known that's it open season if you get caught robbin' traps.
On the other hand we just about don't have any crabs left.
